I don’t want to be a downer, but some of the soldiers were treated pretty badly by us. When my grandfather came back over from Europe they were made to sleep in the cargo holds at the bottom of the ships and not allowed to interact with the passengers above. They were treated like cattle, more or less. It was kind of crappy :(
